Abstract:

As an important driving force for promoting the development of new quality productivity, digital economy plays an important role in achieving China’s green poverty reduction. Based on the panel data from 30 provincial-level regions in China from 2006 to 2020, an econometric model with a two-way fixed effect model as the core is constructed to empirically test the impact and in-depth mechanisms of digital economy on China’s green poverty reduction. The results find that digital economy has a significant promoting effect on China’s green poverty reduction. The degree of fiscal decentralization has a significant inverted U-shaped effect on the former. Digital economy can promote China’s green poverty reduction by improving the allocation level of labor and capital factors and enhancing the technological innovation level. There is significant regional economic heterogeneity in the impact of digital economy on China’s green poverty reduction, which is manifested in the fact that its impact increases with the improvement of regional economic levels.

Key words: digital economy, green poverty reduction, factor misallocation, technological innovation
