Abstract: Discusses the cooperation in a transshipment alliance consisting of n retailers. Assuming that each of them is facing to a market demand that is attributed to the multiple newsboy problem, i.e., the commodities that are wanted to be sold out are all of perishable goods with short shelf-life, the alliance organized by those retailers can make more profits they jointly expect through negotiatory orders and cooperative transshipments. Based on the multiple newsboy model and analyzing the case of n retailers who are co-ordinating their efforts in their joint orders and associated reallocation, a cooperative game is defined as 'general newsboy game' of which the features and their effects on the corresponding cooperative alliance are discussed. A conclusion is thus drawn that all the general newsboy games have a nonempty core and an alliance based on cooperation enables each and every retailer to make more profits expected.
