Abstract: Taking the Soyuz reentry module and F16 fighter as examples, the three-dimensional flow field, surface temperature and heat flux distribution of a single high-speed flying vehicle of either the simple or complex configuration were simulated numerically by COSMOS FloWorks on PC. The flow pattern of the reentry module was calculated, and it was found that there is a similarity between the reentry module and 'wave rider' F16 fighter with regard to the distributions of surface heat flux, temperature and pressure, i.e., the position where the heat flux is high corresponds to that where both the surface temperature and pressure are also high. The result can provide theoretically a reference for an integral optimization of aircraft and its design for thermal protection.
