Abstract: Effect of caustic ratio on structure and characteristics of sodium aluminate solution has been studied by methods of infrared and measurement of viscosity. It was obtained that the infrared peak of A1-O-A1 weakens gradually to disappear, and intensity of peak of Al(OH)4- also decreases with the increase of caustic ratio. Viscosity of the sodium aluminate solution increases rapidly below 70°C and increases slowly above 70°C with the increase of the caustic ratio. The results are explained by the structure of anion complex tied by hydrogen band in solution.
