Abstract: Fourier transform attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy (FTIR-ATR) combined with thermal analysis were applied to the component analysis of four different types of plastic bottles, and the distribution of the component was studied by the infrared image system. The results showed that the main components of the bottles are polyethylene (HDPE) and a certain amount of polypropylene (PP). The results of the infrared image system are consistent with the experiment data of FTIR-ATR and thermal analysis. Infrared image system can detect trace impurities in a complex mixture, and provides a new powerful technique for the inspection of drug packaging.
