Abstract: An analytical method for calculating the inherent characteristic of cylindrical panel blade was proposed. The blade was simplified as a cantilevered open cylindrical shell mounted on a disc. By making mode shapes function of cantilevered girder in the longitudinal direction substitute for variational equations so as to simplify it into a constant differential equation in the other direction, the natural frequencies and the mode shapes were thus achieved by solving the equation. The results were also compared with that of the FEM. It showed that the analytical method provides high calculation precision. The as-obtained natural frequencies and the mode shape function can be further used to study the nonlinear characteristics and fatigue life of single blade or multi-blades.
