Abstract:

Enhancing agricultural economic resilience is an essential pathway to advancing agricultural modernization and building a strong agricultural nation, while the digital economy can provide new momentum for improving agricultural economic resilience. Based on the panel data from 31 Chinese provinces spanning from 2011 to 2022, this study empirically examined the empowering effect of the digital economy on agricultural economic resilience and its underlying mechanisms, following the measurement of digital economy development levels and agricultural economic resilience. The findings indicate that the digital economy significantly enhances agricultural economic resilience, with this effect demonstrating regional heterogeneity. This conclusion remains valid after undergoing a series of robustness tests. Mechanism analysis reveals that green technology innovation and comprehensive industrial structure upgrading serve as crucial channels through which the digital economy strengthens agricultural economic resilience. Further research identifies that economic policy uncertainty exerts an inhibitory moderating effect on the empowering role of the digital economy. Building on these findings, optimization pathways are proposed to strengthen agricultural economic resilience through digital economy, including enhancing digital infrastructure construction, intensifying agricultural green technology innovation efforts, and creating a stable economic policy environment.
