Abstract: To solve the problems of estimating the social service abilities of colleges and universities, an estimating index system has been established, which can be divided into two main aspects—social service work and service ability cultivation of colleges and universities, and further subdivided into 19 evaluating indexes. In light of the different attributes of the evaluating indexes, the evaluation information available can be categorized into values, interval numbers and language phrases, based on which a comprehensive approach of estimating the social service abilities of colleges and universities has been proposed. Finally, an example is taken to illustrate its validity and practicality.
