Abstract: The deformation process of H-beam was modeled by the explicit dynamic finite element method with different rolling parameters to make sure how and why the backward slip formed during H-beam rolling. The results showed that in the rolling process of H-beam the influence of area reduction on backward slip is so apparent that the backward slip increases sharply with increasing reduction. In addition, the flange width, elongation ratio of flange to web, inner width of H-beam and initial thickness of workpiece also affect greatly the formation of backward slip during H-beam rolling.
