Abstract: An embedded real-time operating system WebitX is proposed and implemented on the basis of micro-kernel architecture to meet various complicated requirements of developing the embedded Internet applications. WebitX's kernel, as a preemptive real-time and multi-task one based on priority, can provide such system services as task scheduling, synchronization and communication, priority inversion, real-time clock and network protocols to achieve its real-time performance and reliability of embedded Internet applications. The experimental results show that WebitX can meet the demands of developing the Internet applications in most embedded systems and decrease greatly the R and D difficulty of embedded software. WebitX provides the technical assistance for implementation of network and intelligent management in embedded devices.
