Abstract: Proposes a fast algorithm for two-dimensional (2-D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of multipath narrow-band sources impinging on the far field of a twin parallel uniform linear array (ULA), analyzing the features and performance of the 2-D DOA estimation algorithms in wireless network communication environment. Compared with the previous work, the proposed algorithm requires a lower computational complexity because the relevant eigenvalue decomposition needed is just for smaller size matrices, and it is available to get the incident beams to which the different azimuth or elevation angles are close with each other. It utilizes the eigenvalues to estimate 2-D DOAs and their corresponding eigenvectors to solve the pairing problem of the estimated 2-D DOAs. Simulation results showed the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, such as smaller estimation error and higher robustness to SNR.
