Abstract: Fuzzy PID algorithm has been widely applied to industrial process control, extraction of fuzzy rules, proportion, quantizing factors and membership function are all determined subjectively to certain extent in fuzzy controller design. An improved fuzzy adaptive PID algorithm (IFPID) is thus proposed, using PSO algorithm to optimize the preprocessed membership function. Comparing the simple PID algorithm with the conventional fuzzy PID algorithm, in a simulation test of turbine governor, the proposed algorithm shows shorter regulating time and smaller overshoots when the system is disturbed by response frequency and load fluctuation.
