Abstract: PHBV/CaCO3 blends were prepared by way of banburying, and the thermal and mechanical properties of the blends thus prepared were investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), tensile tester and rotary rheometer. The results showed that the atmosphere does not affect the thermal stability of PHBV blends, and a certain amount of CaCO3 nanoparticles as additive hardly affect the glass transition temperature and thermal decomposition temperature. Moreover, the blends have better toughening effect when the content of CaCO3 is 5%.
