Abstract: The objective of this study is to confirm the effect and action mechanism of pyrite in the process of roasting-ammonium leaching of nickel oxide ore. XRD and chemical analysis are used to analyze the phase change and the leaching effect. The results show that, after adding a little pyrite in nickel oxide ore, nickel exists as pentlandite in the calcined product. Pentlandite is then oxidized and leached in the form of ammonium nickel sulfate complex in the system of NH3-(NH4)2CO3, and the enrichment and separation of nickel is thereby realized.
