Abstract: Aiming at working characteristics of different zones in cooling tower, a three-dimensional numerical model of counter flow natural draft wet cooling tower with flue gas injection was established based on the theories of heat/mass transfer and flow between air and water. The motion of continuous and dispersed phases in cooling tower was investigated by Euler-Lagrange approach and the effect of cooling performance by setting up flue gas injection had also been taken into account. Meanwhile, the working performance of cooling tower under diverse crosswind velocities was analyzed, in contrast with that in a traditional cooling tower without flue gas injection. The results showed that the setup of flue gas injection had positive effect on the working efficiency of cooling tower. The crosswind decreased the drop degree of cooling water, which was harmful to gas emission. Moreover, crosswind could also increase corrosion drastically near the tower outlet.
