An Analysis of the Incentive Mechanisms of University Teachers Based on Kurt Lewins Field Theory

Abstract: Poor humanistic management and unsound incentive mechanisms in many Chinese universities have led to less motivation to work among teachers. Based on Kurt Lewins Field Theory, this paper analyzes the principles and characteristics of teachers dynamic field, explores the current insufficiency of career motivation and its contributing factors, and puts forth the following measures accordingly: enhancing the mutual communication between universities and their staff, setting reasonable goals for teacher development, advocating win-win policies of career development, integrating material rewards with spiritual encouragement, as well as establishing individualized incentive mechanisms. The purpose is, on one hand, to improve the overall incentive level of Chinese universities, and on the other hand, to encourage teachers to be fully devoted to their teaching.
