Abstract: Based on several exiting mathematical models, an off-line temperature simulation software was developed to improve the control effect on strip head temperature in finishing rolling process and draw up a more reasonable inter-stand spray water cooling scheme. Simulating computation was done off-line for the strips of various sizes and results conformed well to those measured, which showed its accuracy. Then a strategy was designed for finishing temperature and used to work out two quite distinct types of the control logic of inter-stand spray water cooling. The results showed that the range of target finishing temperature can be provided and kept on in an energy-saving manner with lower frequency of spray nozzle opening if opening reversely but closing forwardly the cooling valve for inter-stand spray during water cooling.
