Effects of Birth Periods on Migrant Workers Sense of Social Conflict and the Mediation Mechanism

Abstract: The data of CGSS (2010) were used to analyze the effects of birth periods on migrant workers sense of social conflict and the mediation mechanism. The results showed that after controlling the variable of individual characteristics, birth periods exert a significant effect on migrant workers sense of social conflict, and specifically, the second generation migrant workers sense of social conflict is significantly higher than that of the first generation ones. Based on an analysis of the mediation mechanism, it was found that the two senses of income fairness and social fairness have a significant mediation effect. The second generation migrant workers have a lower sense of income fairness and social fairness than the first generation ones, which leads to their higher sense of social conflict.
