Abstract: An internet of things system was presented to solve the problem of how to effectively and efficiently evacuate the working staff in major accidents. Based on the proposed system, an efficient evacuation route search algorithm (ERSA) was also proposed to reduce the evacuation time, by which the evacuation route could be iteratively found on the basis of the distribution of roads and people within a prescribed time limit. Experimental results showed that compared with shortest path evacuation algorithm and random path evacuation algorithm, better evacuation routes could be generated by the proposed ERSA and evacuation time could be reduced by 15% and 28%, respectively.
